FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Your questions, no jargon.

Here is what we are asked most often. If your question is not listed, our team replies within 48 hours.

How much does construction or renovation cost in Quebec?

Cost depends on project type, materials and location. A turnkey new home typically starts around $250–$350 per square foot, while a major renovation can range from $100–$250 per square foot depending on complexity. We prepare a detailed quote after an initial visit and review of your plans.

What is the typical timeline for a new home or addition?

A new home usually takes 8 to 14 months, including permits, design and construction. An addition or major renovation can take 3 to 8 months depending on scope. We set a realistic schedule upfront and update it weekly.

Do you hold a valid RBQ licence?

Yes. Construction Altora holds RBQ licence 5867-6941-01. This licence is required to perform construction work in Quebec and protects you by ensuring the contractor is recognized by the Régie du bâtiment du Québec.

Who handles permits and inspections?

We manage permit applications with the municipality and coordinate required inspections at every key stage. You do not have to handle it, but you stay informed of progress.

Do you offer a warranty on your work?

All our projects are covered by the mandatory ten-year warranty for structural work, plus manufacturer and supplier warranties for materials and finishes. We remain available after delivery for any adjustments.

Can I choose my own suppliers or materials?

Yes, as long as products meet Quebec Building Code standards and project timelines. Our partner network (Richelieu, Cosentino, Rockform and others) often offers pricing and availability advantages, but we adapt to your preferences.

Do you work in my area?

We serve Greater Montreal, Repentigny, Lanaudière, Laurentides and Brownsburg-Chatham. If your project is near these areas, contact us to confirm feasibility.

What is the difference between renovation and an addition?

Renovation transforms an existing space without changing the building footprint. An addition adds a new section to the structure, usually requiring foundations, a building permit and structural plans. We guide you to the best option based on budget and goals.
